Building remodelling for 4 dwellings, 42 Carlos Cañal, st. Seville
The architectural proposal that represents the current project, part of the consideration of architectural and heritage values of building, maintaining what is considered relevant in this case the building's facade, built the first bay, the vertical load-bearing wall, the location of the stairs, and the formalization of the main patio and lights.
As regards the internal arrangements, we propose a total reform because it proposes a change of use of the building, posing a multifamily program. In addition, the current state of the distribution does not present any special interest, since it has suffered great variations from the original state, on the use of which has been designed.
The typology is proposed for multifamily housing, trying to adapt as much as possible to the building structure. That is why an independent housing projects per plant, so that each one of them, with ventilation and lighting of the facade, main courtyard and backyard, thus achieving greater privacy of the ranches.
The typology proposed, despite the changes that are discussed below, maintains the main scheme of the main court house with living areas and stairs attached to it (second bay). The rooms are turning to the main courtyard, which was confirmed as a unifying element and core housing.
